I am finally getting around to posting some pictures and they are coming to you in 2 parts...just to keep you on the edge of your seat ;). This picture series is documenting our attempts at having the bed in the "bedroom" AND being able to close the door...a simple request right?

So we first try putting it against what I would call the "back" wall opposite the door (although the "back" wall also has a door leading to the second "bedroom"). Having it nice and centered so we could have the nightstand next to the other wall clearly isn't going to work.
Let's try putting the bed all the way next to the window wall to see if the door can squeeze by then.

So close.....but no cigar. Besides..then one person would have to crawl over the other to get out of bed. No thank you.
What if we turned the bed so that the headboard was against the window wall?

yeaaaaaaahhh that ain't happenin'. And I clearly have zero spatial reasoning. I'm pretty sure Graham told me this way wasn't going to work but I insisted that we try. I was off by about 2 feet.
We did discover that if we put the bed all the way against the back wall with the headboard still at the window wall the door could just squeak by (not pictured). But then we agreed that it wasn't worth crawling over one another just so that we could have the capability to shut the door. We only have one A/C unit and it's in the living room...so this door was going to remain open practically all the time anyways.
(the other wall, not the door, window, or back wall, has the entrance to the closet and bathroom in case you were wondering why we didn't try that one.)
Oh and speaking of the bathroom...check out this shower!

Look closely.... Are you seeing it? Yeah..it's about 3 feet wide and 6 inches deep. I don't know about you but in a normal size bathtub I can't get all my body parts underwater at the same time...but I can get the majority of them under. This thing would be like me sitting in a puddle...it's not going to happen.
They did use the missing 2 feet of the bathtub to create some shelving in the bathroom to act as a linen closet...so at least that is useful!
Finally I will leave you with a picture of us eating our first home cooked meal in our new home!

Using a box..full of clothes...as our dining table. Keepin' it classy Newells :)
Hopefully it won't be too much longer before I get the other pictures up!

aw, sounds like so much fun! hope you're enjoying yourself! miss you!
I'm kinda wondering if the average height in Florida is less than the national average? If your bed was just a foot shorter...your body a foot shorter...oh wait, still wouldn't fit in that tub! Hilarious description! I can just picture sitting in a ball to fit in the tub...oooh SO relaxing~ hah!
Haha... I gotta say, the "keepin' it classy" line was my favorite. Get yaselves some right nice lawn chairs and you'd have a purty good setup, I reckon! ;) Looking forward to seeing more pictures! Love you!! :-D
PS--Amanda, isn't it your turn to start a blog? We need posts and pictures on your life as a Bostonian! ;)
Lol, Kim, I think that's from Niki's other friend, Amanda, from back home. Thanks for the shout-out via Niki's blog, anyway :) Haha, I'll talk about starting a blog and then Josh says "why don't you come eat some ice cream/play golf/pick berries/take a walk/watch a movie with me instead?".
Niki- you are so cute and I can't wait to hear more about your miniature bathtub! Have you guys considered taking your bedroom door off completely and just putting up a long curtain (or, funky strands of beads-- ooo la la!)? Reminds me of what we'd do at tech when our closet doors stuck out too much.
I have been thinking about your first time homebuyer question too. I'll try to think of as many good suggestions as I can and give them to you over the phone (now there's some incentive for a phone chat, if I've ever heard one!). I know I'm totally due to call you- but we actually have friends visiting this weekend, so I promise to call you asap.
Love to you and happy weekend!

"manda" and Kim-I think you were both wrong and it's my friend Amanda from CA who also comments. I don't think Amanda from VA reads the blog :(....I guess I just have a lot of friends named Amanda :)
But I think everybody should start a blog so I can read it :) manda-don't let josh talk you out of such things. It would be a great outlet to talk about the craziness that is your job.
I can't wait to hear more advice about home buying. Right now it seems really overwhelming and not worth the hassle :(
I love how all your stuff fits in your "not as tiny as you thought it was going to be" temporary apartment! You're a total rock star for finishing everything so quickly! Hugs, AV
