July Update

So since I have been so terrible about updating the blog, I figured I would at least do an update once a month. So hopefully now you can count on an update either at the end or beginning of the month.

Well, we've been looking for jobs pretty seriously ever since we got back from our hiatus back to VA. We've had a couple of interviews, but nothing has stuck so far. Some days I'm really discouraged and some days I'm really hopeful. It just depends on the day.

Besides that, we've been able to do some fun things here and there. The day after our two year anniversary we went to San Francisco to do something to celebrate, since we had been on a plane on the day of our anniversary. Nothing is better to celebrate than dessert, so we hit up the Ghiradelli Chocolate factory.

Yum!

Another weekend, we went to the Connoisseurs Marketplace down in Menlo Park. We checked out the craft vendors, ate some food, and listened to live music.

As you can see. This is not Graham's favorite thing to do.

And Finally, this past Friday, Bob and Ethel gave us some club level tickets to the Giants baseball game (complements also of Bob Zider). It was pretty awesome being so close to the field and Giant's stadium is one of the coolest stadiums I have ever been too. It's so pretty right there on the bay.

So Pretty!

Primo seats!

He doesn't like it when I make us take pictures of ourselves.

So when we first moved to CA, I thought it was crazy how health conscientious everyone was. But now I'm kind of jumping on board. I've been reading the book about the South Beach Diet, and I think we're going to go on it. It actually makes a lot of sense and seems really practical. We're planning on starting the diet on August 4th. Anybody else interested in joining us? I think the biggest thing that I've realized is that I'd rather let my body do the digesting and not some machine, and so I am going to try and avoid a lot of the processed foods. Those that know me real well know that I am a sucker for ice cream, the solution...

check it out at fraicheyogurt.com -- We tried it last night with Bob and Ethel and it's pretty delicious. You can get it topped with fresh fruit and shaved dark chocolate..Yummy! The fruit is not on phase 1 of the South Beach, so I'll have to go with out the first two weeks--but I think I can manage :).
We've also been biking some. Well Graham has been doing it a lot. He loves it. The problem for me is that we live on top of this steep hill and it just kills you at the end. We've been doing this 13 mile loop and I don't get that tired until we get back to the neighborhood. Graham's a champ though.
So that's the news for now. The next time you see us we'll be lean, mean, cycling machines :). And hopefully we'll have jobs too! :)

Noel Rogan Newell

Well, It's has been about two months since our last post. Sorry about that. A lot has happened in the last two months and not a lot has happened in the last two months, all at the same time. We flew back to Virginia which was good and bad. Good because we got to see our families again and spend some time with them, bad because we lost a saint in the family. Noel Rogan Newell ("Gogs") left us to join with the saints in heaven on July 1, 2008.

All of her 19 grandchildren (and now some of the spouses of the grandchildren) say that they were her favorite. Gog's had the unnatural ability to make everyone feel like her favorite and make sure that no one is left out. Her legacy will continue to live on through the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and so on.
