source So far he has been offered funding at UCSC and FSU and we are awaiting a funding decision from GMU so we have a lot of different factors to weigh in order to make our choice.
The wedding weekend was such a whirlwind trying to fit everyone and everything in but it was so worth it!
I arrived in Norfolk LATE Wednesday night (actually technically Thursday morning) chatted with my parents for a few and went to bed. Then woke up on Thursday at 7am so that I could finally meet my dear friend Kim's baby who was almost 6 mo. old! I'm so glad I finally got to meet her, but so sad it took me so long!!
I had some nice bonding time with both mother and child! You can't tell in any of her pictures but her hair is so red and so are her eyebrows! It's so stunning!
After that I picked my dad up from work so we could go home and do P90X together. That's right, no break for Niki, we are COMMITTED to doing this for 90 days. (only 3 more weeks to go!). Then me, my mom , and dad had about 2 hours to hang out with each other before I had to drive to Roanoke. Then it was even more busy! Bachelorette party, bridal luncheon, nails, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner....but it was SO MUCH FUN!! Amanda, Nat, and me at the Rehearsal dinner.
I knew that I was going to have fun hanging out with Nat and all my other great friends from college. What I didn't know is that I was going to make more friend's (friend's of Nat's from HS) and have even more fun than I could have possibly imagined. I laughed so hard the whole weekend that my sides were aching!!
Saturday before the wedding Ashley did P90X with me in the morning! What a great friend huh? Lets me stay at her house in a super comfy bed AND then wakes up with me to work out. It would have been super difficult to motivate myself without her!!
So without further ado, let's get to some wedding pictures AND the completion of the roommate series!! My wedding, July '06
Kim's wedding Dec. '06
Ashley's wedding Nov. '08
Nat's wedding Mar. '11
And here are some of my favorite's from the wedding: The Dress! (you can click on the picture to enlarge it) Sorry for the poor quality it was DARK in there!
some of my college friends!
These are the girls that were cracking me up the whole time. Clearly they were pretty good at cracking themselves up too!
The last dance of the night. Once the bubbles were passed around we all were like little kids and couldn't wait to blow bubbles!! Don't worry, we still had some left for when they left!
I couldn't decide which part of the trip to blog about first. Time with my niece or the wedding and times with friends. For my mom's sake I'm going to go with time with my niece. My mom bought her this cute little ducky and we had a lot of fun playing with it. So I wanted to post some video of that!
I only had about 3 measly hours to spend with my brother, sister-in-law, and niece, which of course wasn't nearly enough time. However, it was nice to have them all to myself!!
I know I'm her aunt and all, and am completely subjective...but she is SO adorable!! I love how she flaps her arms like Ducky does!
And then I had some one-on-one time with her while mommy was taking a shower, so we had a little photo sesh.
My dad says I look a lot like my brother here. What do you guys think??
She sucks her left thumb just like her auntie did!! (hopefully she quits sooner than I did though!!)
getting so sleepy.
Next week I should have pictures up from the wedding!!
So Graham semester is back in full swing! We are continually adjusting to the new schedule. Fortunately, this semester on Monday and Tuesdays he is home early enough to allow us to go to our small group together, which is a change from last semester. Yay! Sadly, before I knew his schedule I signed up for a Woman's Small group that meets twice a month and we get together as a large group one Monday a month. So we don't get to capitalize on that time time together, but it gives Graham some time to do his homework. The woman's small group is going through the Beth Moore Study "Stepping Up". source And let me tell you it is AWESOME! I'm don't normally like guided bible studies. The questions are normally super cheesy...but her questions guide you to the point she is trying to make out and her personal questions are really good ones. This study is on the Psalms of Ascents which I knew nothing about previous to this study and it has really opened my eyes!
Things have naturally been really tight for us money wise this past year. Graham is in school full-time so we are living on one income (and student loans are paying for his school). I feel that through Graham's diligence God has been providing for us in unexpected ways. He has received three Scholarships this semester! And one of the scholarships is allowing us to go here in April: source
This my Friends is the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort! In the BAHAMAS!! Yup, the Economists do it right and there is a Conference going on here and Graham will be presenting the paper/project he has been working on all year! He received a scholarship that decreased his conference fee and also gives him a little travel stipend. I am so so so proud of him. I also wasn't about to let him go to the Bahamas by himself. What fun would that be?!?! So we're calling this our 5 year anniversary celebration...even though it's 3 months before our actually anniversary. I am so excited!! We've been doing P90X for about two months, so we should be beach body ready come April! When the conference is going on Graham will be gone from about 8am-5pm so my plan....sleep in...eat breakfast..workout..lay out by the pool...read..eat...drink..move to the beach...read...eat...drink...take naps..repeat. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's going to be AWESOME!
Since I'm scheduling this post...by the time it posts I will be AT one of my dearest friend's wedding! Remember this post? Well this wedding will complete the set of pictures of the roommates weddings. I could not be more excited for her! And I definitely plan on blogging about my time in VA (I will also be getting to see my niece) and you guys can bug me endlessly to make sure I don't wait another two months!!
