Grand Tetons/Yellowstone Days 1&2

Our grand adventure has begun! My plan is to post at least every other day, but no promises!

Day 1
Our first day began by flying into Salt Lake City where we picked up the rental car to drive 5.5 hours to the Jackson Hole Airport to pick up the rest of the family. This was Graham's first time renting a car (since he just turned 25 two months ago) so I snapped a photo.

The drive was long and scenic with long stretches of nothing but land, reminding us that we needed to consider our gas situation before heading back to the airport. On our way we passed through the town of Afton which has the largest arch made with interlocking elk antlers.

Once we finally made it to the Jackson Hole airport we had to get Fi, Bill, Melinda, Amy and all of their luggage into the Ford Explorer. We had rented a mini-van but when we got to the airport they didn't have any left and they gave us a Ford Explorer instead saying it had the same number of seats. Although that much was true, it absolutely does not have the same amount of cargo space.
Packed in!

Yeh, it was that crazy getting everybody and their luggage in.

We then proceeded to downtown Jackson Hole to get a bite to eat before heading to our cabin.

Day 2
The 2nd day began with me, Fi, Bill, and Graham going to breakfast in the neighboring town Driggs, ID
Three generations of Newell men

Me and Graham outside of the Bunk House Bistro.

In the afternoon the six of us went to the snake river for a scenic float.
5 of us plus our guide on our scenic float.

Catching some rays

The beautiful scenery

After our scenic float we took a wagon ride into the Grand Teton National Park for a steak dinner.
On the wagon

Cooking up the steaks! (This was just a photo op, no Graham and Bill were NOT in charge of cooking for 40 people)

Some after dinner music...

...and dancing

The couple who cooks and runs the show sang to the couples who recently had an anniversary. It was our 4 year anniversary and the other couple's 51st.

Next up, more eating and horseback riding!
