So as many of you know I (Niki) finally got a new job at the Carnegie Institute of Washington located on the campus of Stanford University. My official position title is "Lab Technician" but I am still learning all of my specific job duties. So far it's mostly lab upkeep (ordering supplies, autoclaving tips, tubes, and trash, and planting wildtype plants for the lab) and learning new techniques for DNA extraction, PCR, RNA extractions, etc. Enjoy the pictures!
Main Entrance
Bench Work. First experience with a multi-channel pipettor.
More Benchwork.
Me with the plants in one of the 9 greenhouses used for Arabidopsis.
My lab-tech compatriot Clayton. He works with Corn (aka Maize). He got the sweet position that travels to Hawaii in the winter.
So that's all for now. I'll have new posts coming soon with my trip to VA!!
